About

Hi! I’m so glad that that you have decided to visit discovernorthcountry.com.

My family has deep roots in New York, and I am a descendant of Jacob Manchester, a soldier who defended Sackets Harbor in the War of 1812.

We moved to Jefferson County in November 2020, so we didn’t do a whole lot of exploring right away. When the snow began to melt the next spring, we almost never stayed home and visited a new place a few times each week.

After a while, I realized that I could help other people enjoy this beautiful place, also known as North Country, as much as we have. All of the places that I write about are places that I have visited personally.

My goal with this website is to encourage more people to visit the counties in the North Country and enjoy it even more when they do.
